General Description
F-75 is therapeutic milk diet that has added vegetable fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. It is liquid therapeutic diet with an energy density of approximately 75kcal/100 ml.

Intended Use
The F-75 liquid therapeutic diet is intended for stabilisation phase of treatment of children diagnosed with SAM. It is intended to stabilize the child’s metabolism and support rehydration. F75 must be administered under medical supervision. A cautious approach is required because of child's fragile physiological state and reduced homeostatic capacity, hence F-75 is not designed for weight gain. (WHO. Target Population: Children diagnosed with SAM, in the initial phase of their treatment.

All therapeutic foods approved for the initial feeding or starting phase of treatment of children with severe acute malnutrition must provide at least 50% of protein in the form of dairy protein. For the purposes of conversion from unit weight to unit energy, protein and carbohydrate are assumed to contribute 4 kcal/g and lipids 9 kcal/g. Osmolarity of diet: 300mOsmol/L. (no less than 240 and no more than 320mMol/L).

Directions for Use
Follow the instructions very carefully on the label before preparing the feed. The product is ready to use and requires no dilution. Pour the correct amount of product (based on the feeding table printed on the actual label) into a previously sterilised cup. After opening, store remainder in the carton in a refrigerator. Once formula is in feeding cup the formula should be used immediately. Any formula remaining in the cup after feeding should be discarded. Once opened, use contents of carton within 24 hours. Use before expiry date indicated on the top of the carton. Can be used at room temperature or warmed if desired – Do not heat in a microwave.

WARNING: This low iron diet is not suitable for long term feeding of well-nourished children. It is only to be used in accordance with recommendations and supervision of skilled health personnel in hospitals or therapeutic feeding centres. It should never be distributed to families or communities.
