General Description:
Incubation belt - to hold water testing samples close to the body for 24 hours incubation at close to body temperature – capacity to hold at least 18 E. coli testing plates (e.g. for MICS programmes).
Technical specifications:
The incubation belt is used to hold water testing samples close to the body for 24 hours incubation at close to body temperature. (The incubation belt can replace a portable electrical incubator in E.coli field test programmes where electricity is not available.)
It should have pockets to store E.coli testing plates. The size of these plates is 80mm x 60mm x 5mm. The plates will be stacked back to back (2 plates per pocket). For easy access, the pockets must be approximately 85mm (+/- 5mm) wide and 130mm (+/- 5mm) high. The belt should have 9 such pockets, for a total capacity to hold at least 18 E.coli testing plates.
The belts are designed to be worn around the waist and be robust enough for use during a survey campaign lasting 3 months. They are worn by field teams overnight and will consequently need to be comfortable to wear and preferably not too heavy or warm.
The fastening of the belt should be simple and ensure that the belt is firmly secured around the waist when wearing. The belt should be length adjustable to enable users with different waistlines to use it.
Suggested measurements for the belt: adjustable waist width from 80cm to 125cm in length and 14cm wide; with 9 pockets (85mm x 130mm) for E. coli testing plates. It should be possible to close the pockets, to ensure keeping the plates in place. The pocket closure can be of any methods such as Velcro, button, zippers, etc., while in the design it should be considered that the wearing comfort against the body shall be best possible for 24 hours contact.
The belt is made of washable non-shrinking fabric.
NOTE 1: Examples of belt types of potential suitability include: Money belt and ENPHO incubation belt.
NOTE 2: A sample belt will be requested from each bidder.
