General Description
Iodised salt test kit, for determining presence or absence of iodine in salt fortified with potassium iodate (KIO3). Kit indicates presence or absence of iodine (if the salt is fortified with potassium iodate).

Technical Specifications:
Kit contains:
a. Test solutions, two 10 ml ampoules/vials with white caps.
b. Recheck solution for identifying false negatives (for alkaline samples), one red 10 ml ampoule / vial.
c. Salt holder (standardized plastic measuring sample).
d. Instruction leaflet(s) in English, French, Spanish and Arabic. Instruction leaflet in other languages can be provided upon request.
e. Color reference chart.
f. A device (safety pin) for opening the ampoules or vials.

Product purpose:
The purpose of the product is to indicate the presence or absence of iodine in salt fortified with potassium iodate (KIO3). A coloured reaction will indicate the presence or absence of iodine. ). The colour observed after adding the test solution is compared to the colour on the range chart. The reaction colour is visible within one minute (<1 min).

One kit can approximately test between 60 and 75 salt samples.

Instruction for use:
Instruction leaflets are provided in English, French, Spanish and Arabic. Instructions cover how to use the test kit for fine and coarse salt.
NB: Test solution bottle cap may require a sharp pin or paperclip to pierce the bottle open. A pin is provided in the kit for this purpose.

Packing and labelling:
Iodine test is contained in a kit with a tight cap on the test solutions.

Shelf life:
Minimum of 18 months.
