General Description:
Chlorine, NaDCC 56%, for Water purification, as Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate (NaDCC) granules, in plastic drum of 25kg
Technical specifications:
Chlorine as 100% Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate Dihydrate (NaDCC) in white granules, which releases 56% of available Chlorine:
Suitable for treatment of water for human consumption (drinking water purification).
Shelf life (expected): 3 years (Unopened container)
The Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate Dihydrate (NaDCC) compound must be certified by NSF International (or delegated organism) to the NSF/ANSI standard 60. The product must also comply with the EN 12931:2015 standard.
USER AND STORAGE PRECAUTION NOTE:
This NaDCC product should not be mixed with incompatible materials such as organic materials, nitrogen containing materials, other oxidizers, acids, bases, oils, grease, sawdust, and dry fire-extinguishers containing monoammonium compounds. In particular, the NaDCC should not be mixed with Calcium Hypochlorite (HTH).
Though the drums give good protection if kept closed, it is strongly recommended, if practical, to store them apart from incompatible materials.
Packaging and labeling:
As per Hazardous Goods notes:
Bulk granules in container (appropriate plastic drum) of 25 kg NaDCC total.
This pack size is normally allowed for cargo flights, land and sea freight.
Storage and transportation:

Directions for use and dosage:
To obtain a 1 percent Chlorine solution: Weigh out and dissolve 20g of NaDCC Granules in 1 litre of water. Stir to dissolve.
The 1% (= 10,000mg/l available chlorine) solution is used to disinfect larger quantities of water, as following examples:
For 1 mg/l in 10 Litres water, add 1ml solution
- in 100 Litres water, add 10ml solution
- in 1,000 Litres water, add 100ml solution
- in 10,000 Litres water, add 1 Litre solution
For 5 mg/l in 10 Litres water, add 5 ml solution
- in 100 Litres water, add 50ml solution
- in 1,000 Litres water, add 500ml solution
- in 10,000 Litres water, add 5 Litres solution
NOTE: 1mg/l = 1 ppm available chlorine.
1/- Pre-treatment/simple filtering can be necessary to ensure that the water turbidity is less than 5 NTU before chlorinating.
2/- Ensure that a minimum contact time of 30 minutes is allowed before consumption.
3/- Ensure a thorough mix, by recirculation where appropriate.
4/- Always test for residual chlorine levels. It is desirable to leave a residual chlorine level of 0.3-0.5 mg/l after 30 minutes contact.
5/- During outbreaks it is recommended that chlorine residuals should be maintained as follow:
0.5mg/l at all points in the supply
1.0mg/l at standposts and wells
2.0mg/l in tanker trucks at filling
