General Description:
Open top Hand Pump, VLOM-50, (INDIA MARK III-50 (SKAT) type), Recommended General Package, with Telescopic Stand and Galvanized Iron riser pipes for cylinder installation depth of 30 metres.

Technical Specifications:
Complete Deepwell Open-Top Hand Pump - VLOM-50 (as specified by the Bureau of Indian Standards, IS: 15500-2004), also known as INDIA MARK III hand pump (by SKAT International Specifications Rev.2 - 2007), and sometimes as Mark III or IM III 50, for cylinder installation depth of 30 meters, with:
Head, Handle, Water Tank, Telescopic Standard Stand
VLOM 50 Cylinder (Open Top)
50 mm ND GI riser pipe, 30m
MS connecting rods with threaded couplers, 30m

The VLOM-50/India Mark III-50 hand pump features essentially the same above-ground equipment as the SDWP/India Mark II pump type, hot dipped galvanized manufactured as per IS 15500-2004, complete with head assembly, water tank, Telescopic Stand, but adapted for below ground 50 mm riser pipes.
The VLOM-50 hand pump is equipped with Open Top Cylinder, to use with 50mm GI riser pipe and MS (connecting) pump rods.
The pump type is suitable for pumping water up to 50 meters, while this description covers a generic 30 meter cylinder installation depth.

Packaging and labeling:
The pumping set packaging depends on the shipment type.
At a minimum, as per Annex C: Clause 12.1 of Part 1 of IS 15500:2004, Recommended Packaging Procedure.

Shipping Details:
Sea shipment: Wooden crate packing, steel strapped bundles in HDPE sheets for the connecting rods and the riser pipes.

Air shipment: Corrugated cardboard, jute/plastic laminated sheets, steel strapped and marked, steel strapped bundles in HDPE sheets for the connecting rods and the riser pipes.
Including riser pipes (30 metres per pump): 30 hand-pumps packed in wooden boxes or 80 hand-pumps bulk packed.
Excluding riser pipes: 70 hand-pumps packed in wooden boxes or 120 hand-pumps bulk packed.

For quick sea delivery, it is essential that the minimum quantities to be ordered correspond to one fully loaded ISO 20-foot container.

Instructions for use and installation option:
The VLOM 50 pump set type can be used for pumping water from deep wells up to 48 meters static water level. This package is equipped for maximum 30 meters installation depth. Additional Riser Pipe and Connecting Rod extension sets can be ordered through UNICEF Catalogue Number S0009312.

Comments:

Corrosive Water:
This pump is not recommended for corrosive water. If water is acidic (low PH), the pump types Afridev, U3M, VLOM-65 Variant 1 or 3, or VLOM-50 PVC should be considered (see Catalogue Nos. : S0009193, S0009320, S0009301, S0009303, S0009322 and S0009323).

Stand Choice:
For installation on bore wells of up to 150 mm diameter, the Telescopic Stand - Standard should be used. The Normal Stand - Standard is suited for wells in the range of 100 mm to 125 mm diameter casing pipe (For Normal Stand see VLOM-50 Variant 1 - Catalogue NO S0009311).

Installation Tool Kits:
It is recommended that adequate sets of Standard Tools and Special Tools (Annex D, Clause 1.3 of Part 8, Table D-2.1 and D-3, IS 15500:2004) be ordered for installation and maintenance of this hand pump (separate ordering on UNICEF Catalogue No. S0009325 (Installation) and S0009327 (Maintenance))
Depending on the density of hand pumps in a given area, the installation and maintenance infrastructure and other local conditions, the number of the tool sets being ordered could vary between one set of each type of tools for every 50 pumps to 250 pumps.

Fishing Tools, Etc.:
Similarly, sets of fishing tools for retrieving dropped below-ground components could be ordered at the rate of one each of these items per 25 hand pumps, like platform shuttering set and masonry tool set could be ordered at the rate of one each of these items per 250 to 500 hand pumps, all depending on local conditions (separate ordering on UNICEF Catalogue Nos. S0009182 or S0009187 depending on kit content).
