Single-use sharps container, small size.
A device designed as a container to allow the safe deposit and collection of biologically or chemically contaminated used sharps; this includes needles, lancets, scalpel blades, cannulae, or other devices that present a hazard to a healthcare worker or patient if they were to inadvertently have bodily contact with the device and cause themselves an injury. This container is typically designed to be puncture resistant, leak-proof, and closable (usually having a lid that cannot be reopened once closed) and is identified with the universal biohazard symbol on its labelling.
Functionality: the sharps container must safely contain contaminated sharps at the point of use; during temporary storage and during handling and transport to the point of treatment and final disposal.
Container stability: Upright and free standing, stable during use on a horizontal surface and do not topple over when tested accordance to ISO 23907-1:2019.
Drop test: there shall be no evidence of leakage and no breach of the sharps containment area when tested in accordance with ISO 23907-1:2019 after dropping.
Resistance to penetration shall be in accordance with ISO 23907-1:2019 specifications.
