General description:
Sulfamethoxazole 400mg and Trimethoprim 80mg tablets (Co-trimoxazole), 10 blister cards each containing 10 tablets.

Technical specifications:
Each dispersible tablet contains Sulfamethoxazole 400mg and Trimethoprim 80mg.

Therapeutic class:
Sulfamethoxazole is a competitive inhibitor of dihydropteroate synthetase enzyme.
Trimethoprim reversibly inhibits bacterial dihydrofolate reductase.
Sulfamethoxazole is used in combination with trimethoprim because of their synergistic activity.

Indications:
Treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim alone, or in combination with other antibiotics. Furthermore, prophylaxis for HIV and HIV related infections.
