General description:
Sulfamethoxazole 100mg and Trimethoprim 20mg dispersible tablets (Co-trimoxazole), 10 blister cards each containing 10 dispersible tablets.

Technical specifications:
Each dispersible tablet contains Sulfamethoxazole 100mg and Trimethoprim 20mg.

Therapeutic class:
Sulfamethoxazole is a competitive inhibitor of dihydropteroate synthetase enzyme.
Trimethoprim reversibly inhibits bacterial dihydrofolate reductase.
Sulfamethoxazole is used in combination with trimethoprim because of their synergistic activity.

Indications
Treatment of bacterial infections susceptible to sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim alone, or in combination with other antibiotics. Furthermore, prophylaxis for HIV and HIV related infections.
