Quinine dihydrochloride sterile solution for I.V/I.M injection, 300mg/ml in ampoules of 2 ml contains 82% quinine anydrous base.
The salt used and the % of Quinine base in the salt must be specified on the label and pack insert.
It must be specified whether the dosage strength displayed is that of the salt of the base.

Therapeutic class
Quinine is an alkaloid derived from the Cinchona tree.

Indications:
Treatment of multiple drug resistant malaria, often as second line treatment.
Treatment of severe malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum.
Can be considered as alternative therapy for chloroquine sensitive strains of P falciparum, P. ovale, P. malariae and P. vivax.

Route of administration:
By slow intravenous infusion after dilution
By intramascular injection (I.M) NOT to be given by intravenous
injection

Storage:
Do not store above 30°C
Do not freeze.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children
Protect from light
