A mild erythematous reaction at the site of injection has sometimes been observed accompanied in a few cases by a moderate fever.
Contraindications:
Vaccination of persons with an acute, febrile illness should be deferred until after recovery; persons with a history of hypersensitivity to any component of the vaccine, including 2-phenoxyethanol, formaldehyde, neomycin, streptomycin and polymixin B. Individuals infected with immunodeficiency virus (HIV), both asymptomatic and symptomatic, should be immunized with IPV according to standard schedules.

Vaccine is potent if stored between +2°C and +8°C until the expiry date indicated on the vial. The vaccine must not be frozen.
