Technical specifications:
Malaria vaccine is a pre-erythrocytic stage hybrid recombinant protein vaccine, based on the RTS,S recombinant antigen. The RTS,S is a portion of the P. falciparum circumsporozoite protein fused with hepatitis B surface antigen, in the form of non-infectious virus-like particles produced in yeast cells by recombinant DNA technology. After reconstitution, a single human dose of 0.5ml contains 25 micrograms of RTS,S adjuvanted with ASO1E.

The vaccine is manufactured as a powder for suspension for injection. The powder is white. The suspension is an opalescent, colourless to pale brownish liquid.
Use immediately after reconstitution – store at 2°-8° for a maximum of 6 hours.

Each box of Malaria vaccine consists of 100 doses of vaccine/50 vials and the equivalent amount of adjuvant required in 50 vials.
