General Description:
Universal STEEL Roof Kit, appropriate for Steel Reinforced Water Storage Tanks of the "Oxfam" type. The STEEL roof provides extra rigidity, strength and protection for the tank and can extend the tank service life considerably.

Technical Specifications:
This universal STEEL Roof Kit is a SEPARATE and complete COVER KIT, appropriate for replacement of the lighter uPVC Tank Roof or e.g. for adding roofs on existing but coverless steel tanks.

The universal, rigid, STEEL Roof Kit is suitable for rigid steel reinforced tanks with a common diameter of approximately 6.4 m for the different tank sizes of 45m3, 70m3 and 95m3, commonly employed for storing drinking water in emergency situations (tank types similar to Oxfam Codes T45, T70, T95. See the UNICEF Complete Tank Kit Material Codes hereunder).

Water Tank Roofs are available in two material versions: uPVC and Steel, when supplied with complete Tank Kits as follows:

- UPVC roofs are supplied within the Tank kits having UNICEF Material Codes S0009205, S0009206 and S0009207.

- STEEL roofs are supplied within the Tank kits having UNICEF Material Codes S0009209, S0009210 and S0009211.

While the standard Tank Roof Kit from uPVC is not designed to withstand severe weather conditions, this rigid Roof Kit from STEEL is highly recommended for such locations where risk of severe weather like heavy rainfalls, snow and/or wind is normal.

The steel is especially recommended where longevity is required, i.e. for use with semi-permanent installations, as it will endure more extreme weather conditions, and requires little maintenance.

EACH STEEL ROOF KIT IS SUPPLIED WITH:
3.07m long roof panels, one with access hatch cut
Base plate, centre plates and poles for roof support system
Access/inspection hatch to fit cut panel, top hinged, with hasp for padlock, to allow easy access for dosing etc
DANGER DEEP WATER sticker for outside of tank
Sufficient support brackets, nuts, bolts and washers for assembly and fixing to tank

The overall fall of the roof should be 1.26 m. Poles should not be cut on site to reduce roof pitch, as this may cause ponding of water on the roof and subsequent damage of tank sheets.

An inspection hatch has been added to avoid having to loosen the roof each time the inside of the tank needs to be examined, or where chemical dosing needs to be undertaken.

When mounted on the 95 m3 water tank all centre poles and sockets will be required.

The STEEL Roof Kit comes as a compact packed kit for easy shipment and mounting on-site.

NOTE: Tools are NOT included with this kit.

THE COMPOSITION OF THE KIT CAN BE SUBJECT FOR SLIGHT DEVIATIONS ON MATERIALS AND COMPONENTS DEPENDING ON THE EXACT MANUFACTURER/SUPPLIER OF WATER TANK COVER SET. HOWEVER, CONSTRUCTION PRINCIPLES, STRENGTH CONDITIONS AND SUITABILITY FOR USE SHALL BE COMPLIANT.

PACKAGING AND LABELING:
All items for the roof cover must be packed in one sturdy timber crate with minimum 100 mm risers, for off-loading with jack poles. Crate must be clearly marked with the name of the kit with gross weight and dimensions clearly shown. Marks must be on the front and back of the case, as determined by the runners for the forklift.

PACKING LISTS
One packing list in a plastic bag to be securely fixed to the outside of the crate.
One packing list, including User's Notes to be enclosed in the crate in a grip-seal plastic bag.

USER NOTES
For general hygiene and to reduce algae growth, a Tank Roof Kit is recommended where the tank is used for water storage.

- When storing TREATED water, a roof is REQUIRED.
- However, where the tank is used for general water treatment purpose (e.g. sedimentation, filtration, etc.), a Tank Roof Kit may not be necessary.
