General description:
Benzathine benzylpenicillin 2.4 Million I.U. powder and solvent for suspension for injection, including patient information leaflet/directions for use.
The preparation is strictly for intramuscular injection.

Benzathine Benzylpenicillin powder for injection 2.4 Million IU, once reconstituted is to be used immediately.

**1 glass vial of powder for suspension for injection and solvent i.e. 1 glass ampoule of solvent for suspension for injection (water for injection) of varying volumes e.g 4ml & 5ml. **.

Please note another name for Benzathine Benzylpenicillin is Penicillin G Benzathine.

Technical specifications:
Each vial of powder for suspension for injection contains 2.4 Million I.U., equivalent to approximately 1836 mg Benzathine benzylpenicillin, or approximately 1440 mg Benzylpenicillin.

Therapeutic class:
Benzathine Benzylpenicillin is a combination of Benzylpenicillin which is Beta lactam antibiotic and Benzathine which is a Diamine. The Benzathine stabilizes Benzylpenicillin and prolong its effect when injected.
